Finder alternative
The Finder alternative
that keeps what works
Burrow is a native file manager for the Mac. It keeps everything Finder gets right (your files, tags, the Trash) and adds the tools you'd otherwise open three other apps for, all from the keyboard.

What stays
the same
Switching doesn't mean moving anything. Burrow is a new window onto the same Mac.
Your files stay put Burrow shows the folders already on your Mac. Nothing to import.
Finder tags The same colour tags, in the sidebar and on files.
Preview with Space See any file without opening it: Markdown, code, CSV, archives.
Trash and undo Deleting goes to the Trash, and moves and copies undo with ⌘Z.
Coming from
Windows?
The Explorer habits that never worked in Finder work in Burrow. Keyboard basics
- ⌫ goes back to the previous folder
- F2 renames the selection
- ⌘C ⌥⌘V moves a file, like cut and paste
- Go to Path type a full path with completion, like an address bar
- ⌘T opens a tab, and tabs come back when Burrow opens
- Sidebar drag any folder in to pin it, however deep it is
Questions
Does Burrow replace Finder?
It works on the same files, so you can use it for everything you'd do in Finder and keep Finder for the rest. Nothing has to move.
Will it change my files or folders?
Only when you ask it to. Burrow reads the folders already on your Mac, and tags are ordinary Finder tags.
Does it need the internet or an account?
No account. Activating your license needs the internet once; after that Burrow works offline. It goes online to check your license and for updates, and for git's Fetch, Pull and Push when you ask.
Which Macs can run it?
Any Mac running macOS 26 Tahoe or later, with Apple silicon or Intel.
How much is it?
$19, once, for 2 Macs and a year of updates. Try it free for 14 days first, with everything included.
